 Pam Baker is the 2006 recipient of the Lila Carpenter Memorial Nursing Scholarship in the amount of $600. The scholarship is made possible through donations from individuals to the Boone County Hospital Foundation. Pam was awarded the scholarship at the Boone County Hospital Recognition Dinner in December. Pam is a nursing student at the Des Moines Area Community College. The scholarship is in memory of Lila Carpenter who was a Boone County Hospital employee for 31 years. Lila overcame many adversities during her lifetime. With the encouragement of a physician, she returned to school and became a Registered Nurse. The scholarship helps selected nursing students complete their nursing education. It is hoped that the recipients of this scholarship will approach their nursing careers with the same commitment and joy that Lila did.
