 Betty Irons, Boone County Hospital Dietary Director, was presented with the 2006 Brown Award during a Christmas Party Celebration at the hospital on December 22nd. The Brown Award was established by Weldon J. Brown in honor of his parents, Eunice D. and Everett C. Brown, long-time residents of Boone. Each year, hospital employees nominate co-workers who demonstrate outstanding service and exceptional accomplishments. The recipient of the award receives a $50 savings bond. Betty was nominated for being an outstanding supervisor. According to her nominations, ‘Betty gets right in there to help her staff from washing dishes, to cooking, to scrubbing the floors. She has always made the hospital her first priority.’ Recently, Betty went above and beyond by donating PTO (paid time off) hours to one of her employees who was very ill so that she could keep her full-time status.
