Surgery Creates Healthy Way Pantry
The Boone County Hospital Surgery Department is working in conjunction with the Free Clinic of Boone County on the “The Healthy Way Pantry.” The Surgery Department is asking for donations of much needed health items for the Free Clinic. Needed items include: healthy non-perishable food items, band-aids, tooth brushes, antibiotic cream, feminine hygiene products, toilet paper, hand sanitizer, Tylenol and Ibuprofen, razors, shampoo, deodorant, Q-tips, kleenex, baby items, mouthwash, bath soap and toothpaste. Donations can be dropped into the blue box located in the Atrium at Boone County Hospital. The Surgery Department would like to make this an ongoing project, so donations will continue being accepted throughout 2011. If you have questions about items that can be donated, contact the Surgery Department at 433-8350.

In addition to the Healthy Way Pantry, the BCH Foundation and Auxiliary are each donating $1,000 to the Free Clinic for their Prescription Fund.

The Free Clinic is for individuals without health insurance; there is no cost, however, in-kind donations are accepted. It’s open the first and third Tuesdays of every month from 6 to 8 p.m., First United Methodist Church, Boone. If you would like to learn more about the Free Clinic, log on to www.freeclinicsofiowa.org.
